About

Then

From 2016 to 2020 I operated Oregon Law Practice Management LLC as a law practice management educator and technologist. Prior to that, I served as a Practice Management Attorney at the Oregon State Bar Professional Liability Fund from 1996 to 2016. I used my experience and problem-solving skills to make law practices more efficient, effective, and profitable.

Now

In 2020 my husband and I co-founded High Lakes eBikes LLC, which is now our passion. Nevertheless, I might be strong-armed into speaking or writing in 2021 or beyond. If you have a proposal (or a question), please use my contact form.

Credentials, Affiliations, and Honors

I received my BS degree with high honors from Portland State University in 1982 and a JD from Lewis & Clark Law School in 1986. I was an active member of the Oregon State Bar from 1986 through 2020, with inactive status effective January 1, 2021.

I practiced with a personal injury firm in Portland and provided pro bono legal services for over eight years in the areas of family law, probate, estate planning, and disability through the Multnomah Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project, from whom I received an Outstanding Volunteer Award in 1991.

Before joining the Professional Liability Fund as a Practice Management Attorney in May 1996, I was Legal Placement Director and Associate Executive Director of the Multnomah Bar Association for eight years. I recently served on the Oregon State Bar eCourt Task Force, and am known for my eCourt expertise.

I am currently the co-founder, administrator, test driver, and shop assistant at High Lakes eBikes LLC.

Professional Speaking and Writing

Throughout my career I have been a frequent speaker and writer on a variety of technology, practice management, office systems, and malpractice avoidance topics for law-related organizations.  In addition to blogging and writing feature articles and columns, I am an author, co-author, and principal editor of multiple legal publications:

  • Principal editor of the PLF publications, A Guide to Setting Up and Running Your Law Office (1999 to 2016) and A Guide to Setting Up and Using Your Lawyer Trust Account (2005 to 2016).
  • Contributing author, The Ethical Oregon Lawyer (2005 and 2015), published by the OSB
  • Contributing author, Planning Ahead: A Guide to Protecting Your Clients’ Interests in the Event of Your Disability or Death, published by the PLF.
